Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- Online
Using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App) - Online
Using our Online Triage System – AccuRx - Online
Use our Online GP Service – Patient Access - By Post
Post a repeat slip into our postbox outside the front door (ideally the slip; if a separate note ensure legible, name, DOB, clear request) - Via Chemist
Ask the chemist to ask for it on your behalf (via their online system or in person; both are typically the slowest methods to get your item)
These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
Non-urgent advice: Please Note
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy within 2 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- On the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- At your GP practice
- At any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD
Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD) is a non-compulsory method of dispensing prescriptions electronically. eRD allows your GP to send a series of repeat prescriptions to your pharmacy in one go, so there’s no need for you to order them each time. It’s reliable, secure and confidential. Your regular prescriptions are stored securely on the NHS database, so they’ll be ready at the pharmacy each time you need them.
If you are on regular repeat medications, you can ask our pharmacist to set this up for you. Once it is set up you will no longer see your medications in your repeat list on your NHS app, this is because you no longer have to order them.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription. Please do not call reception about your prescription unless you have already checked if the pharmacy has your medication.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:
- Phone our pharmacist after 10am on 01903 247740
- Fill in our medication query form.
- You can see the status of your prescription request (most of the time) on the NHS App: Ordering a Prescription Help and Support (NHS)
Medication reviews
