Covid Boosters over 75s and 5-11 first Covid Jab

The Covid vaccination service we jointly manage at the Strand Surgery is now taking bookings via the “National Booking System”. Look for “Strand Medical”. For Spring boosters this will allow you (the over 75s) to book providing you are 3 months from your last dose. The recommended interval is 6 months, but 3-6 months is fine. 5-11 year olds can have an appointment booked this way too. We’re planning on delivering the housebound patients vaccinations ourselves in June, but feel free to use the Strand Medical if able.
Book via https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ or by calling 119. Dr. Romans & Dr. Sayers

New chronic disease and blood monitoring system using month of birth

Dear Patients,
We have been developing plans over the last few months to improve the way we monitor long-term health conditions and both conditions and medications that require blood monitoring. From April 2022 we will introduce our month of birth recall system. For example, if we think you need a blood test once per year and you are born in July, then we’ll contact you in June to organise you blood test. If we think you need a test twice a year, we’ll contact you again 6 months after that. For some conditions like dementia, rheumatoid arthritis, severe frailty and severe mental illness, we’re introducing an annual GP review appointment face to face. Where you’re housebound we’ll organise a visit. For most patients, you’ll be invited by text message to telephone the surgery to book your test, so please make sure we have your up to date mobile phone number. For some patients we know we’ll need to call you to organise. We hope such preventative and holistic ‘annual reviews’ will be useful. If there are any teething problems, please contact us on CWSCCG.cornerways-worthing@nhs.net or telephone the surgery.

Best wishes, Dr. Romans, Dr. Sayers & Team

Dr. Romans Motor Neurone Disease Fundraising – Thanks for your support

Dear Patients,
I’d like to thank you very much for your generous support in fundraising for Motor Neurone Disease research and supporting affected families with this condition. I’m delighted to have been able to cycle all 520 miles in 48 hours and deliver the Doddie Cup match ball from Murrayfield to The Principality Stadium in Cardiff for kickoff on 12th February. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to do this. I’m thrilled we have raised over £3000 and that the event as a whole raised more than £250,000 including corporate sponsorship. Thank you locally to AR Brown & Co Solicitors and The Chanctonbury Lions Club, both of whom generously fundraised and donated without being approached.
