We are booking in Covid and Flu boosters by invite-only. We’re prioritizing the over 65s and housebound initially and sending self-book invites by mobile. Please be patient and wait for us to contact you. If your mobile is not up to date or we don’t have it – let us know – it saves us lots of time. We will also telephone those without mobiles and book you in too. We’ll use our clinic on the 27th to judge the amount of time we need going forward per patient, then will release more appointments on the 28th September, when we’ll send another invite-only link out. If you / your relative / cared for person is over 65 and doesn’t have a mobile, you are welcome to call us from 28th September, though be assured we’ll call you if you don’t call us. We’ll get through everyone, we just need some time!
When it comes to your appointment, you can’t have your Covid booster if you’ve had Covid within 4 weeks, or if you currently have a fever. Please cancel your appointment in advance if this affects you, so we can offer the slot to someone else, and not waste vaccine.
Thank you! The Cornerways Team
We join with the rest of the country in mourning the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and share our heartfelt condolences with the Royal Family.
The government has announced that Monday 19 September will be a national bank holiday to allow people to pay their last respects to the late Queen on the day of her State Funeral.
We will be closed on Monday and will reopen as normal on Tuesday morning.
We have contacted every patient directly if your appointment has been affected by this change to our service.
During Monday if you need urgent health help or support there will be some pharmacies open on the bank holiday. Visit the NHS website and search “find a pharmacy NHS” to find an open pharmacy in the local area.
For all other urgent health needs over the weekend and the bank holiday, contact NHS 111 online www.111.nhs.uk or by phoning 111 for expert advice and support, and signposting to an appropriate service if needed.
If you need mental health support over the Bank Holiday, the Sussex Mental Healthline offers crisis care for people in urgent need of help with their mental health. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 0800 0309 500.

Mrs Jacqueline Barnes has retired from her position as manager of Cornerways Surgery. We’re so grateful to Jacki for many (>20) years of dedicated service to Cornerways Surgery. Jacki will be greatly missed by staff and patients alike.
We’d like to welcome Vida Tonna as our new practice manager. Vida has previously managed surgeries in Brighton & Hove, achieving there best overall practice as recognised by Healthwatch. We think she will fit in well and are grateful she has joined the team.
Mrs Coral Meredith has also left from her role as practice nurse and we’re grateful for her work with the surgery. We’re delighted to have secured the services of Veronica Clarke (practice nurse) and Micheline Williams (healthcare assistant) on a short/medium term basis to allow us to boost our capacity not just to previous levels but above that. This should help us greatly as we head towards Winter. A short wait had built up to see a nurse after Coral left, however with the new capacity, the wait time should disappear over the next few weeks.
Best wishes, Dr. Romans & Dr. Sayers
