Building Extension

Dear Patients,

A few of you will have noticed we have some building works that have started. We are very excited to share with you that we are adding a 2-room extension to the surgery, along with a new modern disabled-access toilet, and upgraded waiting room area. Some of you will have been lucky to have consulted with our superb clinicians that work alongside myself, Dr. Sayers and the nursing team. Amy Kemp is a senior physiotherapist specialising in spinal physiotherapy. She provides a one-off senior consultation service for our patients when we need guidance with the diagnosis and/or treatment plan. Marina Flegantova is a senior pharmacist, who behind the scenes helps with all your medication requests and queries and provides us with guidance on medication safety. Louise Johnson is a multitalented care-coordinator and practitioner helping link up your services and coordinating your diabetes and lung disease reviews. To keep using these excellent clinicians, and have space for us all to work, we need more space! We hope you enjoy the upgraded facilities once the extension is complete. There will be some minor disruption until then. Our patient toilet off the waiting room is out of order until further notice, with the current disabled toilet by the GP consultation rooms being used instead. Best wishes, Dr. Romans on behalf of the Cornerways Team.

A few updates

Dear Patients,
Some of you will be aware our long-standing manager Jacki Barnes recently retired. Jacki has been brilliant and we will miss her! We are delighted to have found a wonderful experienced practice manager in Vida Tonna, who has joined us properly this month and is settling in very well.
Dr. Romans has commenced Thursday evening clinics from 4pm to 7pm with a mix of e-appointments (blood pressure clinic, econsults) the telephone consultations. You can book the telephone appointments using the NHS App / Patient Access / calling the surgery in the same way as his other telephone appointments.
We have now vaccinated most of our over 65s and under 65 at risk population with both flu and covid vaccinations. We have put on four additional clinics for covid and flu vaccination for anyone who missed out, and including now all over 50s who are this year eligible for both flu and covid boosters.

Best wishes, the Cornerways Team

Covid & Flu Boosters

We have released more clinic slots for your jabs:
4th & 18th October: 65 & overs (on 31/03/23)
11th October: Under 65 who are in an at-risk group

Links to self-book have been sent to everyone with a mobile.
During week commencing Monday 3rd October we’ll be phoning all those eligible in the above groups who do not have a mobile number recorded.

We have created nearly enough slots for everyone, and will release more if there is demand for this. After completing the above risk groups we’ll move onto those aged 50 to 64 eligible for flu and Covid by age only.

For our housebound patients, 30 vaccines were delivered yesterday, and we plan to contact the remaining patients to provide vaccinations on Friday 7th October.

Please try to book into these walk -through clinics as they are very time efficient. Organising individual vaccines in surgery is far harder, especially as covid vaccine vials contain 5 or 6 doses and must all be used quickly once opened.

Thank you, the Cornerways Team
